Every child should have an equal chance in life
The North East Child Poverty Commission is chaired by Councillor Jane Streather from Newcastle City Council.
It is supported by NECPC Coordinator Dr Deborah Harrison, and hosted by the Institute for Local Governance (ILG) at Durham University.
Deborah's role includes research and policy analysis, disseminating information to a wide range of stakeholders and organising campaigns, seminars and other knowledge exchange events.
Additional support is provided by Professor John Mawson, Phillip Edwards and Janet Atkinson from the ILG team.
Work has to be a better route out of poverty. Most poor children have a working parent.
